In The World Of Online Databases There Are Many Options

In the world of online databases there are many options to choose from, two of the most popular are Microsoft’s Access Database and Oracles RDBMS 12c Database. These systems are used for data management within corporations and businesses large and small. Some businesses may ask which is better? which one would best suits their needs? To find the answer to these questions we must look to what makes these database management systems (DBMS) different from one another. Access, for which I have personal experience using over my time as a student in high school and college, has been a good and easy introduction into the world of database information and data management. Access is used to manage and report data in a simple yet very professional†¦show more content†¦Both systems can be integrated with one another, especially if you want to move information from Access to Oracle. Oracle may be worth the extra cost if running a larger business or corporation, due to its level o f security and encryption capabilities. Also Access would not be able to handle the size and demand of said businesses. It is clear that Access and its systems are not as diverse as that of Oracle’s. Showing that it is best for small or medium sized businesses, but its simplicity is also its downfall. It limits the size of databases which for large businesses and corporations is a great detriment. For more complex businesses a more complex database system is at hand, Oracle. Oracle of course is a wide spread database system which is almost limitless, which is why it is a perfect system to those large demanding corporations. If I were to run a small sized company I would choose to use Access as my database management system for the everyday needs of the company. Its user interface makes the application easy to use and is cost effective for a up and coming new business. It would be best to use what you have at hand when running a smaller sized business, so if I already have the Microsoft application on a computer that is used for the business, it would only make sense to use the database system that is given with it.
